Travelers heading from Dubrovnik toward the Elafiti islands this coming weekend should not treat line 831 as a normal-check route. In an official notice published on 19 May, Jadrolinija says works on the ferry ramp in Suđurađ will affect the Dubrovnik, Koločep, Lopud and Suđurađ line on 23 and 24 May.
The clearest practical change is already confirmed. Jadrolinija says the regular Saturday 23 May departure at 16:00 from Gruž to Suđurađ is cancelled. If your weekend stay, island day, apartment handover or return chain depends on that sailing, adjust now rather than assuming the usual rhythm will hold.
Before you go: keep the official line 831 notice open, then recheck Jadrolinija's live passenger notices before leaving for Gruž.
What changed on line 831
According to Jadrolinija, works on the ferry ramp in Suđurađ run across Saturday and Sunday, 23 to 24 May. During the works, the berth for mt "Hanibal Lucić" is not available. The operator says the works begin on Saturday after the ferry departs Suđurađ at 07:00, and that the vessel can return only early on Monday in order to resume its regular line.

Jadrolinija published the line 831 weekend notice on 19 May for travelers using the Dubrovnik, Koločep, Lopud and Suđurađ route.
The one sailing named explicitly in the notice is the Saturday 16:00 departure from Gruž to Suđurađ, which is cancelled. Because the Suđurađ berth is unavailable during the works, travelers should treat the whole weekend on this line as a live-information situation and recheck before heading to the port.
What travelers should assume for this weekend
When | Official status | What it means for travelers |
|---|---|---|
Saturday 23 May, after the 07:00 departure from Suđurađ | Ramp works begin in Suđurađ | Do not assume normal turnaround at the Šipan end of the line. |
Saturday 23 May, 16:00 from Gruž to Suđurađ | Cancelled by Jadrolinija | If you planned a late-afternoon island transfer, you need a revised plan now. |
Early Monday 25 May | Jadrolinija says the ferry may return then to resume the regular line | Weekend travelers should recheck again before the first Monday movements. |
Who this affects most
Weekend stays on Šipan: Suđurađ access is the core issue, so arrivals and returns need fresh checks.
Lopud and Koločep travelers using the same line: even if your stop is not Suđurađ, the line itself is under a weekend notice and should be treated carefully.
Dubrovnik day-trippers: if you built your island plan around a fixed afternoon return or onward transfer, leave room for changes.
Private accommodation guests: message your host early if your arrival depends on the cancelled Saturday sailing or on a tight same-day ferry chain.
If you are still deciding whether Lopud makes sense for your Dubrovnik base, our Lokrum or Lopud guide is the planning read. This update is narrower and more urgent: for this specific weekend, line 831 needs an extra recheck before you move.
