Best timing
Late spring and early autumn suit Korčula best when ferries run well and the town keeps more breathing room.
Getting there
Best as a dedicated island stop or as part of a longer island-hopping route.
Yes. Korčula Town has a miniature walled old town often compared to a smaller Dubrovnik, surrounded by water on three sides. The island also produces excellent white wine (Pošip and Grk varieties), offers quiet coves for swimming, and claims to be Marco Polo's birthplace.
Catamarans from Split reach Korčula Town in about 2.5 hours. From Dubrovnik, the journey takes roughly 2 hours by catamaran. There's also a car ferry from Orebić on the Pelješac Peninsula to Dominče (15 minutes), making it possible to drive onto the island via the new Pelješac Bridge.

Trip fit
Strong for couples, slower itineraries, and visitors who want a more relaxed old-town island feel.
Two days is enough to explore the old town, swim at nearby beaches, and visit a winery. Three days lets you tour the island's interior villages, take a boat to the Škoji archipelago, and enjoy the relaxed pace without rushing.
TP Line says its new seasonal line 661 between Split, Hvar and Korčula starts on 15 June and runs daily through 20 September, giving island hoppers one simpler through-route.
